GENERAL INFORMATION

The University of Connecticut is partnering with Academic Programs International (API), a preferred housing provider, to offer housing to students in Shanghai. API offers University of Connecticut students the option to live in student accommodations or a local hotel. All housing is mixed gender with single gender bedrooms. Prices vary depending on housing type and internet is included.

As a University of Connecticut student, you join a diverse community in a dynamic city. We encourage students unfamiliar with Shanghai, particularly first-year students, to take advantage of student housing. Program housing includes internet, maintenance services, and 24/7 emergency lines. No guarantors are needed, as API handles all of the housing arrangements.

All housing options are located close to the East China Normal University (ECNU) City Campus. Depending on the courses selected, it may be necessary for students to travel to ECNU’s Minhang Campus to attend some classes. A university shuttle is available on a limited basis between the ECNU City Campus and the Minhang Campus (approximately 45-60 minutes) or students may travel between campuses as necessary using the Metro or public bus, which may require a longer commute.

APPLY FOR HOUSING

More information about the available housing options can be found below. Housing is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the housing deposit is not refundable under any circumstances. Once you have reviewed the information and are ready to apply, click on the “Apply for Housing” button in the top right corner of the page.

You will rank each housing type in order of preference on the application and receive a confirmed housing offer after the housing application period has closed. All housing is subject to availability, and a student’s first housing choice cannot be guaranteed. Your specific housing assignment, including the address, will be provided two to three weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Questions about the housing options or the application can be sent to shanghaihousing@apiabroad.com.
